One of my chosen hats is the flat pattern military side cap, from WWII. As my theme is the war years, it seems necessary to include a hat which was seen on the front Linea, and not just on home turf. There are several styles of the cap, depending on location, rank and duties. The main structure of the cap is one 'lid' section inset between the two side panels. This is consistent between all the hats. Some are high in relation to the hat and many have front buttons.
I am also looking into other films where the hat is used, and I have found Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow. This uses a semi futuristic/war era setting, fusing time and costume from the past and the future.

A dress a day #3
I would like to introduce the youngest member of the Sew Stellar/Fetasia clan, Marisa. This little miss is my small (!) sister and sat for photos in exchange for some dresses. And mama Stellar got prints out of it as well, win win!
This is the 'Honey' dress, which is now made with a standard full circle skirt. This one has a large additional pleat in the front, as the fabric was a gift and I actually had leftovers!

A dress a day #2
Welcome to ADAD part two! You might notice some almost uncanny similarities between this dress and the last, and you would be correct. This is Roxy Mk2, which was created and worn for the same event as the Mk1. This one had green bias binding, pink ribbon, and a yellow zip, which all probably sound horrible but looked most excellent on the jazzy polkadot dress.
Really odd looking at the last photo and not seeing the massive gaudy Prince and the Revolution tattoo that lives there now.

And a little update on the first Roxy dress. The organisers not only loved me so much they had me back twice as staff, but used photos of me in Roxy numero uno on the marketing material.
More of little ole me and the ears.
And my moodboard!

A dress a day #1
These two photos were taken of the first ever dress made from start to fin, sans pattern. The dress in question went on the be the 'Roxy', as everything I make is now named after Burly girlies. Helps me remember them better than dress 001 or skirt 012.
While this is "A dress a day", there will be a very similar post up shortly when I find photos of 'Roxy' Mk 2.

Cosplay Costumes
So, for the last, two years I've either not dressed up at all, or gone in a latex version of,the costume.
Anime suits it. No-one ever has any seams. This year i'm planning ahead.
Looking at doing a bridge/crossover sailor moon. Starting here:
Look familiar? vvvvvv
Basically, I want to make that! ^^^^^^^

Hats hats hats.
Today we have started millinery. And check out these gorgeous specimens I found on the internet. I particularly love the bottom one, as it is simple and elegant, while still having Massive Pointy Feathers sticking out of it. Tres beaut.

Shoot with MKP
Today I had a promotional shoot with Matthew, of Matthew Kitchen Photography. Nice chap, funny hair, absolute bird of a lady-friend ;)
All I said was, hay bales, and eh certainly delivered. We had five outfit changes in just over an hour, and each one was perfect and fit exactly with what was in my mind. While it was to show off some of the outfits I had made, the other subtheme was 21st century pin up. Or 'What would Stellar do in a field by herself?'
We brought along graphic novels (comics!), laptops, wine, teapots, and a beautiful battered vintage red suitcase.
This is just one of the photos from the day, but wow! Have a look at that vignetting :)
