Today we have started millinery. And check out these gorgeous specimens I found on the internet. I particularly love the bottom one, as it is simple and elegant, while still having Massive Pointy Feathers sticking out of it. Tres beaut.

Shoot with MKP

Today I had a promotional shoot with Matthew, of Matthew Kitchen Photography. Nice chap, funny hair, absolute bird of a lady-friend ;)

All I said was, hay bales, and eh certainly delivered. We had five outfit changes in just over an hour, and each one was perfect and fit exactly with what was in my mind. While it was to show off some of the outfits I had made, the other subtheme was 21st century pin up. Or 'What would Stellar do in a field by herself?'

We brought along graphic novels (comics!), laptops, wine, teapots, and a beautiful battered vintage red suitcase.

Update!

Passion4Fashion #2

Today I will be choreographing my first catwalk for Kirklees Council and Connect Housing! 

I have watched many of the participants create their outfits over the last 8 weeks and I am really looking forward to seeing them all dressed up today. 

I was told last night that I was being shunted onto the catwalk myself, and so had to create an outfit following the same £20 budget, but with much less time. I used a shirt I already owned, created a strap high waisted skirt and added a matching bow to the collar using leftovers. 

I hope everyone involved has a fantastic night, I know I will.

New project!

New project just started this week; recreating iconic 1950's characters from film and television for Hartlepool's Jubilee Celebrations this summer :)

I was looking forward to the event anyway, as its an entire weekend of everything 1950s. I'm holding out for lindyhop!

The character I have been given to create is Roy Rogers, popular 1950's cowboy hero.



I won't lie, its not something I would have chosen myself (when others have Tinkerbell, Sleeping Beauty, even Popeye and Olive Oyl...), but I think I can make it work!

Presentation!

You know how you get those things, that just make you go, ooooooo!?
Well, I had one of those. And then a few more. Researching theatre productions for the 20:20 presentation, I decided to do something with a bit more bite than Iolanthe. Truth be told, and I mean this without bitterness because I love the production, but I was getting sick of the sight of it!
(This would have been the 4th time I've had to re-research it..)

And then I found this



All I have to say is, Ooooooo!

So i decided to do batman live instead... ;)

So, back after a rather lovely festive season, and time to get cracking.
I have two petticoats, an apron, a dress, a jacket, another dress and a swing skirt on the books! And some of my work will be showcased at an up and coming photography studio launch. (http://www.matthewkitchenphotography.co.uk/?p=279) 

As a part of my course (professional studies) we have to give a short presentation (20 slides x 20 seconds) on a theme of our choice relating to costume, theatre, film, design et al. The group I am in has chosen to do 'West End Wonders', so for my slides I will be looking at the various productions of "Iolanthe".
This ties in with other work I have been doing outside of college, as I am working with the Leeds Gilbert & Sullivan society to create the costumes for their own staging of the operetta!

Here's hoping I call pull off something spectacular for both parts!
